Volunteer
There are several volunteer opportunities available for members with the time and interest. The Giving Circle does not require a volunteer commitment from its members but the members who choose to volunteer have found they gain a connection to the community worth far more than the time and money they invested. Any time you can give helps expand and sustain The Giving Circle’s investment in Alexandria. Read below for the different types of volunteer opportunities.
- Volunteer for a Giving Circle gift recipient. - This is a way to see your financial contributions at work and truly engage with your community. You may volunteer on our Community Service Committee as a liaison to one of our Gift Recipients or directly for one of our Gift Recipient organizations.
If having a connection between those providing human services in Alexandria and those receiving them is important to you, please email us of your interest and availability and we will help you find the right opportunity for you!
- Volunteer at at our annual Community Service Day for ALIVE or the Wright to Read Book Drive at the Campagna Center. The one-day community service events are a way to make a real difference even if you do not have time for a regular volunteer commitment.
Watch for announcements in February and March for these events. If you do not already subscribe to our newsletter, subscribe now (see link at left) so you don’t miss it!
- Share your commitment to service and your community by bringing your children to a Giving Circle Kids event. Many parents want to participate in community service activities with their children, but finding activities that welcome young children can be difficult. There is a Giving Circle Kids event each quarter for children ages 3 and above. Click the subscribe link at left to subscribe to Giving Circle Kids announcements.
- Volunteer for the Giving Circle of Alexandria at a level that works for you....this could be as simple as hosting an event, helping with phone calls, or a more significant time commitment such serving as a committee chair, on the Gift Committee or on our Board of Directors. The Giving Circle relies on its members to manage and lead our efforts. Opportunities to manage and lead The Giving Circle are available to all members and provide a chance to apply individual expertise and develop new skills.
If you would like to volunteer to help with Giving Circle Operations, let us know of your interest and availability and we will find a place that is a fit for you!
What commitment you make is up to you. We think you will find the rewards are worth the investment! In addition to making a real and lasting difference to children in Alexandria, we can promise you new friends, intellectual challenge and hope for the future of Alexandria’s children.
...where giving comes full circle.
